Get to know DAN instructor Trainer: Christo van Jaarsveld
DAN Instructor Trainer & Dive Safety Officer
Christo van Jaarsveld
Christo van Jaarsveld is the owner of SeaXplore Dive Centre based in Sodwana Bay. SeaXplore Dive Centre is not only a place of business but a passion and an avenue for him to live his dream. Christo leads every dive conducted at SeaXplore and currently has logged in excess of an astounding 16000 dives. And still loving every moment of it. This year, 2024, marked his 30th year being full time in the dive industry.
He became a Recreational Scuba Instructor in the early 1990s and an Instructor Trainer in 1998. He is also a Technical Scuba Instructor in Open Circuit, SCR and CCR. His passion is Marine Life, and he loves sharing his knowledge and experience with other divers.
Christo has been a member of DAN Southern Africa for more than 10 years. According to him “Being a member of DAN is important to me, it gives me peace of mind in case of an emergency.” When travelling aboard on dive holidays and dive trips, he knows that DAN is only a call away, should there be an incident or emergency, either while diving or travelling to his dive destination. It is important to him and his dive business that his clients are members of DAN, knowing that they are covered in case of an emergency, either at home or while on a dive trip. “DAN is reliable, only a call away and always ready to assist or give advice when needed.”
Another passion for Christo is First Aid and Life Support training. He feels it is crucial for every member of the society to have a basic understanding of First Aid and CPR. Christo is an Instructor Trainer with DAN and recently completed his DAN Dive Safety Officer course.
